The sea and fishing in Tenerife is a public information and awareness-raising project whose aim is to publicise the singular and unique characteristics of the island’s professional fishing and its sea, as well as to promote their conservation.
This project includes a fixed exhibition space and itinerant presentations throughout the island for all kinds of groups. All of this is part of an awareness-raising project aimed at highlighting the special characteristics of the sea in Tenerife, the differences between industrial and artisanal fishing, the proposal for Marine Reserves of Fishing Interest, human damage to the marine environment and some of the things we can do to prevent it. Funded by the Island Council of Tenerife (Cabildo de Tenerife) and managed by the Tenerife Coastal Action Group (Grupo de Acción Costera Tenerife).
The Tenerife Sea and Fishing Interpretation Centre (Centro de Interpretación del Mar y la Pesca de Tenerife) (CIMP) is the exhibition space of our project. The CIMP is located in the premises of the Punta del Hidalgo Tourist Office. It is located very close to the limits of the rural park of Anaga and the beginning of one of the marine reserves proposed for Tenerife.
